contagion In your arms, I feel warped Thinking about the things you previously said “Don’t become a stranger I’ve somehow always known” Forgetfulness of the past I trust you with You are calloused in your response How cruel, I think, wrapped in my grief You’re so different walking through the grass I tried to be good, did you want me? Am I what they’re afraid of at night? With the twister created inside of my head, evidence I won’t beg anymore, I’m not that kind of girl Can I be your girl? Without the fear? If I break my skin, maybe that’ll ease the pain When the compounds clog my arteries On a crystal-clear evening, stars peeking She’ll be okay eventually, promised We’ll be friends, someday, soon Euphoric evenings without your laugh I’m happier here, at least that’s what I believe Tell me: am I prettier six feet below you? I tried to hold on, I am so strong Am I strong now? In your mouth? With my tears flowing no matter how we’re positioned I close my eyes, attempt to eradicate him How similar you are, not your fault Just tell me the truth, I can take it, I promise Am I making you feel sick? Found me back behind the silo to the West And I’ll tell you not to blame yourself the second I’ve left While you were torn apart, I cradled your heart Don’t think about it too hard, just read my book Don’t worry about me, just consume my poetry Just know that I still love you
