willow You dipped your feet into the rocky waters of my coastline And years later, changed me for the better You glow regardless of backlights, stars on your body And you have to get out before it kills us both I meet you halfway each time I look into your eyes, snowflake pupils On the 14th of May, taking turns, exchanging poems I am so unsure of bringing anyone home, you take me everywhere So I learn to trust the certainty of your unabating love And you are calm, calmer than she could ever be Violence is so common, your love is foreign And it comes like the sunrise each morning But I’ll be afraid until I learn to trust you So we spend days together, minutes feel like hours And every gift feels like a hammer waiting to drop But in the summer wind, I see you, brand new For the first time in a long time, there’s someone who isn’t angry And you say “I’ve never found someone who feels this right” I used to think there was nothing left for me here And now, I’m considering coming home And we make our own damn peace Regardless of the stones, daggers she throws And I’ll get lost in you, time loses it’s meaning, you are magical regardless of the evening And you asked me, “Is it me? Or are we free? I’ve been waiting for the perfect time to tell you” And I continued “I’ve never really meant this much to anybody, You feel different, but similarly content” Once we get so close, you feel right in my house We drift apart, to opposite ends of the coast I didn’t find myself, but I found some part in you And maybe you’ll visit me, in the desolate Midwest And you’ll open the door, and say “This is where you’re meant to be” And I’ll say “Did you know you were meant to be?” Your love is fair, and nothing is complete And she says, “God never felt right to me” I’m damn sure you’re just the same as me In your arms that night, soaking wet hair Is the only place I’ve never felt more like myself
